Homemade Raspberry banana soft serve ice cream also known as ‘nice cream’ is the best dairy free ice cream!
Two ingredient ice cream is crazy good and completely healthy! Raspberry “nice cream” as it’s called is made from frozen raspberries and frozen bananas, and that’s it! I’m not sure where the name ‘nice cream’ came from…I’m guessing it’s because it’s dairy free so it’s nice to our lactose intolerant and vegan friends or because it’s made completely from bananas. Either way, I’m a fan of this cute named healthy frozen treat!
What is Nice Cream?
Nice cream is ice cream that is nicer for your body! It is typically made with frozen bananas to get a consistency that is most like ice cream. If you’ve never made nice cream start with this recipe… you’ll love it!
What you need to make Raspberry Nice Cream:
- frozen bananas
- frozen raspberries
How to make Raspberry Nice Cream:
- Add frozen bananas to blender: Slice the frozen bananas. Add them to your blender. Using the end of a hard plastic spoon or a wooden spoon, crush the bananas down into the blender.
- Blend bananas: Start blending, stopping along the way to assist your blender with air pockets by moving the banana mixture down to the bottom of the blender.
- Blend: Blend until smooth.
- Add raspberries: Add the frozen raspberries and blend until smooth again.
- Enjoy: You can eat it as is in it’s soft serve consistency or freeze it for a few hours (with plastic wrap over the top) and scoop it out onto a cone or into a cup. Enjoy!
How to store Raspberry Nice Cream:
Keep this banana raspberry ice cream stored in the freezer in a covered container. It will last for about one month!
Raspberry Banana Ice cream with a soft serve consistency:
It’s crazy what happens when you blend frozen bananas, it’s just like the consistency of soft serve ice cream! We blended the bananas up first and then added the frozen raspberries. You could also do just one ingredient ice cream too!
Blender for Raspberry Nice Cream:
It’s fun to watch the color change from pale yellow to light pink! Having a good blender really helps, I sure love my Blendtec Blender when we make this. Even with a heavy duty blender like the Blendtec, when you’re blending anything without liquid, you can overwork your blender. To not over heat or overwork your blender, slice the bananas small and then use the end of a wooden spoon (or hard plastic spoon) to press the frozen bananas in the blender in between blending when air pockets prevent it from actively blending. This will really help your blender blend them up quicker with less start and stop times in between.
Healthy sweet treat:
This Raspberry Nice Cream is such a great option to satisfy your sweet tooth or to feed to your kids. It’s super healthy but also so delicious! Not to mention it is so easy to make. Try it out!
