Make simple chalkboard gift tags to add to sweet treats to give.
We love the look of chalkboards and how you can easily change out the message. How about making gift tags with the look and feel of a chalkboard. With chalkboard paint you can easily turn chipboard from an empty pizza box to cute gift tags!
Are you familiar with the Cuttlebug die cutting tool? It’s a manually operated tool as opposed to some of the newer electronic die cutting tools. Even though I have an electronic machine, I still love using the Cuttlebug, because it’s so easy to quickly make gift tags out of scraps of paper and you don’t have to spend much time to get it all set up. Plus you can take something like the chipboard from an empty pizza box and turn it into a cute gift tag! For the chalkboard paint, Decor Art makes a great one! The awesome thing about painting a dark color like black, is that you only need to apply one maybe two coats of paint. Plus chalkboard paint dries quick!
We made these gift tags for a little Halloween treat, but you can easily make it work for any special occasion. That’s the beauty of chalkboard gift tags! Here’s a tip, season the gift tag before writing your message on it. To season a chalkboard, you take a small piece of chalk and rub the chalk on it’s side to prepare the chalkboard. This way the first message you write isn’t permanent.
This is just a fun way to make a gift tag and the chalkboard look works great for Halloween! Happy Crafting!
