Kiwi sorbet a refreshing sweet treat to beat the heat.
Kiwi Sorbet
This time of year, we are all about frozen sweet treats, and when they are healthy-ish, it’s a win win! You guys LOVED our 3 ingredient Strawberry popsicles, and this easy kiwi sorbet is so similar, only it’s scoop-able rather than in popsicle form. Bonus: you don’t need an ice cream maker to make it!
What is Sorbet?
Sorbet is a frozen treat that is usually made with sugar, water and either a fruit puree or a fruit juice. It doesn’t get easier than that! For this kiwi sorbet recipe we did not use water, instead we used lime juice because it pairs so well with the kiwi bringing out the flavor. Sorbets are more of a healthier treat compared to ice cream, because they require minimal ingredients. We are all about frozen homemade treats with very few ingredients. Have you tried this banana ice cream? It’s basically like soft serve ice cream. If you like bananas, you’ve got to try it: one ingredient ice cream or this raspberry nice cream which only uses bananas and yep… raspberries.
What you need to make Kiwi Sorbet:
The ingredients to make the kiwi sorbet are super simple:
- 8-10 kiwis
- a cup of sugar
- the juice of 1 lime
That’s it! I told you, super simple. You can swap the sugar for honey if you’d like. Now we are ready to make this refreshing kiwi sorbet.
How to make kiwi sorbet:
- Cut kiwis in half and remove the skins by gently running a large spoon around the skin to scoop out the inside. Add the kiwi insides into a food processor or blender and pulse 3-4 times; enough for everything to smooth out.
- Make a simple syrup with the lime juice and sugar in a small sauce pan set over medium high heat. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves into the liquid.
- Pour the sugar and lime juice mixture into the food processor and pulse a few more times, until the kiwis liquefy and no chunks remain. Do not over mix, or you will start to puree the kiwi seeds.
- Pour mixture into a freezer safe container. Allow to chill in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Once frozen, scoop into a bowl to serve. Enjoy!
