Easy Hawaiian Meatballs to feed a crowd!
Hawaiian Meatballs with Rice recipe
We love this recipe for easy Hawaiian Meatballs, it’s great for a fast weeknight meal, or it also works great as an appetizer. It doesn’t get easier than three simple ingredients. If you plan to serve a big Hawaiian feast, this is a great protein option to serve buffet style, because your slow cooker or crock pot can keep it warm on the buffet. Some call these sweet and sour meatballs from the tangy sweet sauce.
What you need to make these easy Hawaiian Meatballs:
- 1/4 bag of frozen precooked meatballs about 35-40 meatballs (we love the Costco Kirkland Brand)
- 1/2 18oz. bottle of BBQ sauce (we love Sweet Baby Rays, but use your favorite BBQ sauce here)
- 1 20oz. can pineapple chunks with juice OR fresh pineapple chunks
How to make Easy Hawaiian Meatballs:
- Place your frozen meatballs into the slow cooker. No need to thaw the precooked meatballs before adding them to the slow cooker.
- Empty the can of pineapple juice and strain the juice from the pineapple chunks. Set the pineapple chunks aside.
- Mix together the BBQ sauce and pineapple juice. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture into the slow cooker over all the meatballs and toss to cover the meatballs with the sauce.
- Set the slow cooker to high temp for 1 hour, then turn down the temperature to low and cook for another 2-3 hours or until the meatballs are fully warmed.
- Add in the pineapple chunks and toss with the meatballs to coat with the sauce.
- Serve over steamed rice.
Hawaiian Party Foods
My brother-in-law grew up in Hawaii and I always love when we have a Hawaiian feast. These meatballs are a great addition to the Hawaiian feast! Kalua Pork, Hawaiian Macaroni salad are some of my favorites!
