Christmas Sangria Mocktail: the perfect blend of tart and sweet for your holiday party.
There’s something about sipping a fancy drink from a long-stemmed glass that really takes a holiday dinner up a notch! When my kids were younger, they knew a party was coming when the fancy glasses made their way out of the cabinet! After a few accidents that resulted in broken stemware, I opted for plastic glasses from the dollar store for the kids. They also weren’t much for fancy drinks at that age and they were happy with a glass of Cherry 7-Up. I didn’t mind, though, because that meant more for me!
Things have changed now. Maybe it’s because they’ve grown up, or maybe it’s because my drink recipes have been perfected, but I’ve had to start sharing with my kids! They’ve graduated from plastic glasses to my long-stemmed glasses. This Christmas Sangria Mocktail is a fun and festive drink for the holidays. I keep enough ingredients on hand to mix up a second…and sometimes a third batch!
What Is A Mocktail?
A mocktail is a festive non-alcoholic party drink. It’s typically made with fruit juice as the base and fruit as a garnish. The work mocktail is a spin off the word cocktail. You can easily make regular alcoholic sangria by swapping the sparkling non-alcoholic grape juice for a bottle of Moscato.
How To Make a Christmas Sangria Mocktail:
Ingredients:
- 2 green apples, seeded and sliced
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 1/2 granulated sugar
- 1 bunch of fresh rosemary
- 1 bottle sparkling grape juice
- 1 bottle sparkling apple cider

Mixing Instructions:
- Slice up the green apples. Add most of them to the bottom of your serving container.
- Reserve some of the apples for the garnish for each serving.
- Rinse all the cranberries under water and then roll a handful of them in the granulated sugar. Reserve the sugared cranberries for the garnish for each serving.
- Add all unsugared cranberries to the serving container.
- Use a muddler to crush some of the fruit in the bottom of the serving container.
- Pour the sparkling grape and sparkling apple cider into the container.
- Add the rosemary in to finish.
- Rim your glasses with sugar and fill each one with the Christmas Sangria.
- Finish each serving off with a garnish of sliced apples, the sugared cranberries and a festive sprig of rosemary. Enjoy!
How To Make Sugared Cranberries
There are a couple of options to make sugared cranberries. One way is the easy way listed above: rinse the cranberries in water, then roll in sugar. There is another option, though, that takes it up a notch. It’s simple to do but does take a little more time.
- Make a simple syrup by adding ½ cup of water and ½ cup of sugar to a medium saucepan.
- Stir to combine, then bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Make sure that the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Once the mixture begins to simmer, remove from the heat.
- Add the cranberries and stir to coat completely. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Transfer the cranberries to the baking sheet in a single layer and allow to dry for about 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, sprinkle 1 – 1 ½ cups of sugar over the top of the cranberries, then stir with a wooden spoon to coat completely.
- Spread the cranberries back into a single layer and allow to dry for another hour. Once the sugar has dried, they’re ready to go!
