Slow Cooker Bacon Cheese Ranch Potatoes
Get out your crock pot, because we’re making pure comfort food today. Crock pot bacon cheese and ranch potatoes. Go on admit it…those are all your favorite toppings when it comes to potatoes. This recipe makes it easy for you from the start…plus your crock pot a.k.a slow cooker will do all the work! It’s amazing to me how many different things you can make in your slow cooker! From appetizers to desserts, it does it all!
Here’s the ingredient lineup. The easy print recipe will be below.
How to Freeze Cooked Bacon Strips
I have a trick for freezing full strips of cooked bacon in the freezer. Whenever I cook bacon in the oven, I always cook more than needed and freeze the extra. It’s nice to have on hand whenever a recipe calls for cooked bacon for a garnish or whatever.
The trick is hiding it in the freezer so my family doesn’t eat it all! Here’s how to freeze it flat. Freeze it between two cardboard pieces of a cereal box with paper towels to absorb any excess grease after baking and inside a gallon size ziplock bag. For this recipe, it was nice to just grab a few slices from the freezer of already cooked bacon. A minute in the microwave is a great way to crisp it up quick.
Add the dry ranch dressing powder to the uncooked potatoes and toss until evenly coated. You won’t use the full packet of mix for this recipe, although the amount is up to you.
Toss the potatoes all around until fully coated.
Now toss in the finely diced onion.
Now you’re ready to start layering the potatoes into your crock pot.
For easy cleanup, line your crock pot with aluminum foil which you will also spray with non stick cooking spray.
Depending on your day, you can cook them on high for 3-4 hours, or on low for 7-8 hours. That’s the beauty of using your crock pot!
