Make your own custom jewelry with the Cricut Explore.
I’ve got a few fun projects to share with you that I’ve recently made using the new Cricut Explore machine. I’m loving the Geek Chic trend right now, and I thought it would be fun to make some jewelry to go along with it. Here’s my DIY hipster jewelry.
What’s a hipster you ask? A “hipster” is one who follows the latest trends and fashions.
Alright, you might be thinking, well if it says “hipster” right on the bracelet, then doesn’t that totally negate actually being a hipster? Welp, this is where the rules change my friend, you see a hipster doesn’t have to follow those rules. Call it like you see it…I’m a hipster, and you can hipster too.
So let’s get to the fun part. Using clear thick plastic, we cut out the word hipster, the # hashtag hipster and the oh so geeky-chic glasses all with the Cricut Explore, and you can too if you’d like, because we’re sharing the files below. Once the words are all cut out of the plastic, I used a black sharpie to make the words black. You could choose any color of sharpie you’d like for this. Then I layered the same word in plastic on top and left it clear, and I like how it adds a little shine to the jewelry.
With just basic jewelry tools like a crimper, beads, crimp beads and string, you can make a wrap bracelet and a wrap necklace combo like this, or you can attach it to a gold chain to be The Ultimate Hipster.
You’ll need the same basic jewelry making tools to attach it to a chain.
And just like that…you’re a hipster!
But don’t tell them I told you so. 😉
