I’ve joined in with Michaels Craft stores with their #madewithMichaels campaign. I love adding something new to our holiday decor every year, and this year I made this simple burlap wreath. I love the cozy cabin style for Christmas, and a simple burlap wreath is a fun way to bring that look into a corner of your home for Christmas.
I found everything for this cute wreath at Michaels. A big roll of burlap, red plaid ribbon, a wire wreath frame and a darling little wooden sleigh ornament.
I found inspiration for my wreath from this cute burlap wreath from @lilmisskitti on Instagram via the #madewithmichaels hashtag and thought it would be fun to put my own spin on it. I love adding words to decor and I loved how she added the word “Merry” to this one.
This style of burlap wreath is called a “Bubble style” burlap wreath. My friend Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous shared a great tutorial for this style of burlap wreath if you’d like to get the simple how to:
I like more of a tight wrapped wreath look, so I just added a little wire tie the burlap to the wreath frame. Then just wrap! I used the entire roll of burlap, it’s doubled up in areas. I like the thick wrap look.
Then just add the pretty ribbon of your choice. I loved this red and white plaid for more of a cozy cabin Christmas look. I also found this little wooden sleigh ornament. I took off the twine that made it an ornament, and just wired the sleigh on to the wreath.
With simple white stickers or in this case “thickers” from American Crafts, I spelled out “JOY”, right onto the little wooden sleigh. The snowy holly berry and pinecone came on the wooden sleigh.
Here’s the finished wreath. Simple and festive. Now if only I had a cozy cabin to hang it on the front door. 😉
Have you ever made a burlap wreath? Next time you create something fun with items from Michaels, be sure to share it online with the hashtag: #madewithMichaels for a chance to be featured on their site!
Happy Merry Making!
