2012 Family Room Makeover.
I’ve been so excited to share our new family room design with you. I’ve been working with Staci Chavez of A SaltBox Interior Design. Staci is a good friend of mine who for the past year has been working in interior design, designing for others. She has such great style and talent for pulling a room together. I’ve loved following her blog to see all the great room transformations she has worked on. Her own home design is fun to see too.
Here’s our new family room!
The room makeover all started when we were in the market for new couches. We have had the same slipcovered couch for the past 8+ years. Staci helped me find our new love seat and sofa. We ended up going with the City Scape sofa and loveseat at DownEast Home. Staci found these fun pillow covers at Festive Home Decor. The ETSY shop: Festive Home Decor has so many cute pillow covers! It was hard to choose.
We used the color of the credenza (Light Aqua #2152 by Kwall) to create a color pallet. She also started a pinboard on Pinterest for our room makeover to help come up with ideas for the room.
One of my favorite things about the room is the round coffee table or ottoman. I love the natural color and the texture that it adds to the room. You can find the natural coffee table here. The brown and white chevron rug was a markdown from Overstock.com. It fills the space a lot better than the rug we had before.
Because everyone loves a good before and after…Here’s what this space looked like before. We used to have this tall entertainment center and carpet…oh, and globes. Lots of globes. 🙂
Here’s our old slipcovered couch.
Here’s the 50 dollar thrift store credenza before (more on the credenza here).
Here’s a good side by side of what the windows looked like before we added the window boxes. The before (on the right) and now the after (on the left). Thanks to our neighbor Mike for making these custom window boxes. They make such a big difference. I love how they make your eye go up and how they make the window seem taller.
The window boxes are something that Staci suggested. It’s something that I wouldn’t have even thought about changing, but I love the change.
We are loving our new space (thank you Staci!). What do you think?! What’s your favorite thing about our new space?
