Fish Tacos made with frozen fish sticks
You can buy great quality cooked and frozen fish sticks in the freezer section these days. The kind I bought are from Costco, but just use your favorite brand. This easy dinner idea is one of those moments when a friend of mine shared her simple dinner with me, and I was like: “I have fish sticks in my freezer right now!” Fish sticks are one of those easy after school snacks for kids, but they also make great fish tacos. Especially when you use those tiny corn tortillas like the street taco size of corn tortillas.
What you need to make fish stick tacos:
- a bag of frozen fish sticks
- tortillas (you can choose small corn or flour tortillas)
Toppings: - purple cabbage / green cabbage

- roma tomatoes
- red onion
- radishes
- cilantro
- Cotija cheese
- lime wedges to serve
- creamy fish taco sauce
How to make Fish Taco Sauce:
Mix together these ingredients:
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp lime juice from 1 medium lime
- 1 tsp garlic powder

How to blacken a corn tortilla:
There’s a few different ways to warm up and add charred marks to tortillas.
–Flame from a Gas Stove: with tongs hold and rotate the edge of the tortilla over the flame
–Culinary Blow Torch: Use your culinary blow torch to crisp up the edges.
–Hot skillet: Use a hot skillet to black up both sides.
How to cook fish sticks for fish tacos:
There’s a few different ways to cook fish tacos…you can follow the directions on the bag and bake them in the oven, or you can cook them in a skillet for more of a charred look and taste. If your fish sticks are frozen solid, add a little water to the skillet and cover with a lid to steam them. Once the small amount of water is evaporated you can remove the lid and cook on all sides to crisp them up.
