How to store Homemade Pizza Sauce:

- Freeze: Will keep in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two months.
Pizza Sauce Substitutions:
- No White Sugar: You can swap the white sugar for honey or coconut
- No Garlic Salt: If you don’t have garlic salt, you can just add a little more garlic powder and a little more salt.
- No Tomato Sauce: blend up a can of diced tomatoes to make your own tomato sauce. Also blended fresh will also work.
- No Dried Herbs: If you don’t have dried herbs, you can use fresh herbs: oregano, basil, etc.
Can I just use a jar of store bought marinara for pizza sauce?
The truth is that marinara sauce and pizza sauce are different. Pizza sauce is thicker with less water content, and pizza sauce has more flavor packed in.
Make ahead:
Homemade Pizza Night is always so fun with family and friends. Our homemade pizza dough recipe is best made ahead…the flavor actually gets better after a few days in the fridge. Also this pizza sauce can be made ahead too, making pizza night pretty easy!
How much Pizza Sauce to use for one pizza?
For a 12 inch pizza, 1/4 cup of sauce is a great amount.
Why sugar in Pizza Sauce?
For a long time sugar has been added to tomato sauces to help calm the acidic flavor. You can omit the sugar if you would like or just swap it out for honey for a more natural sweetener.
