Make Message Pancakes!
Pancake Art
With the kids out of school for a few days this week with the break, here’s a fun idea for breakfast: Message Pancakes. I’ve heard this called pancake art too!
We’ve been making these for a few years now, and if you have the time in the morning, it’s a fun thing to do with the kids.
How to make message pancakes
To start, make your favorite pancake recipe, here’s our FAVORITE pancake recipe for the most fluffy pancakes. Once you have it all mixed up, scoop out about 1 1/2 cups and put it in a different bowl. Now thin this portion out by adding a little bit of milk. Once thinned out, move it to a small squeeze bottle using a rubber spatula. Now you’re ready to start.
Warm up the pancake griddle and using the squeeze bottle you can write messages with the pancake batter and you can also draw shapes, faces and people…whatever you’d like. Remember with words, you might have to write them backwards to make them work. Let the words cook for a bit on the griddle and them just add more pancake batter on top of the pancake art. The message will cook enough to keep it’s shape once you add more on top.
That’s it! It’s a fun way to get kids cooking and helping in the kitchen.
I’d love to know, have you ever made message pancakes before?
