Social Media Moms 2017
My family and I had the wonderful opportunity to be invited to attend Disney’s Social Media Moms Conference early this month. This was our first time to Disney World and it was way more than we’d ever imagined! We love going to Disney in California, so it was so fun to experience it all in Florida for the first time.
This conference is a special invite for social media influencers that love all things Disney. It’s not often that you get to bring your family along for a blog conference, and have it be an amazing trip at the same time.
2017 was the first time for Disney to do a land and sea conference…meaning three days at Disney World and three days on a Disney Cruise ship. I’m excited to share all about the Disney Cruise later this week.
There’s way too many photos in this post (haha…is there such a thing?)…but first up I want to share What’s new at Disney World with you.
Magic Bands 2 – If you’re not familiar with Disney’s Magic Bands, they are so neat. They are bands that link your park ticket, your fast passes and they can even be used as a quick shopping check out linking one credit card to your account. It’s a great hands free way to explore the parks. They just announced the new Magic Bands 2. The center piece in the new Magic Bands 2 is removable, which will allow for mixing and matching and placing it in other kinds of options other than just the wristband. For example, you can use it as a keychain or hook it on to a lanyard. This is great if you’re a big Disney pin trader and you’re already wearing a lanyard to display all your favorite pins. Guests at the Disney World hotels are already receiving the Magic Band 2 and they will soon be available for purchase along with the new accessory options.
Animal Kingdom is really coming alive at night!
While at Animal Kingdom, we got to see the new show RIVERS OF LIGHT which just opened this month. It’s a beautiful show of sight and sound, with lights reflecting on the water set to the most wonderful music. It truly is mesmerizing. My family loved it.
You can use the My Disney Experience App to add it to your schedule when you visit Animal Kingdom in Disney World. Animal Kingdom is now extending it’s park hours and has all kinds of nightly features like afternoon Safaris and THE TREE OF LIFE Awakenings, another new thing to see at Animal Kingdom at night.
Pandora – On May 27th an exciting new area will open up in Animal Kingdom – PANDORA. Just like the amazing world in the movie of Pandora, this area will have rides like: Avatar Flight of Passage and the Na’vi River Journey. The park itself will be visually like nothing you’ve seen in real life, with floating mountains filled with unique greenery, and bio luminescent lights. This new section of Animal Kingdom will be a must see!
Happily Ever After Night Time Spectacular – May 12th there will be an amazing new new night time firework show at Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom. The new show will feature all new music and projections on to the castle of the Disney Stories you know and love…including Moana! Happily Ever after will begin in May of 2017.
Not that you need anymore amazing reasons to plan your next trip to Disney World, here’s a bunch of highlights from our quick three days. We have to go back, because three days is not enough time. I mean I need more time for Spontaneous Dance parties with Mr. Incredible and Frozone!
…and the best frozen treat ever…The Dole Whip Float,
…or the hot fudge sundae at StoryBook Treats.
…or the pot roast mac and cheese…the best mac and cheese ever!
We loved experiencing the new ride at Magic Kingdom – The Seven Dwarf Mine Train. With a few fun hands on things to do while you wait in line and the way they can make the Dwarfs come to life is really something to see!
See this cool Mickey Face? It was on the ground, and it was made with water. It was neat to see the Mickey face slowly disappear as it evaporated. It’s like the ultimate “hidden Mickey”.
We had fun with Shadows with our Minnie headbands on. 🙂
When at DisneyWorld, a fanny pack is a must!
My sweet friend gave me this cool fanny pack from Spi Belt as one of her “Favorite Things” and we LOVED using it at the park. It’s so cool. It can be as small as you want it or it can stretch to hold what you need. My daughter loved it for holding her cell phone and coin purse. I want one for all of us now.
From Magic Kingdom to HollyWood Studios…if you’re a big Star Wars Fan, Hollywood Studios will be your favorite spot to take a selfie with your favorite Wookie. 🙂
Or just to go in for a big Bear Hug…I mean Wookie Hug.
My son got a kick out of talking to the Storm Troopers.
The Star Wars Firework show is a MUST See! We got to see it during the conference, and we all loved it!
On Wednesday of the Conference, we got to meet up with a few of our favorites…like Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
And Moana! If you follow along on Instagram, you probably saw a bunch of my Instagram Stories from this fun day. We’re working on a little video from the whole week that we will add to this post soon.
At the Conference we got to see an extended preview of the new Beauty and The Beast movie coming out March 17th with Emma Watson, and I can’t wait…she’s perfect for the part.
My boy loves the Haunted Mansion ride. 🙂
I love how colorful all the Magic bands are together, not only are they awesome to use at the parks, but they make great souvenirs when you get home.
It’s so fun to see the bands in action too. It’s one of the most magical sounds in the world…when you enter into DisneyLand…or DisneyWorld…it’s so magical.
This was our first time to Epcot, and it was neat to see in person the giant Silver Globe that we’ve seen in photos for so long.
I wish we had more time in Epcot. More time to explore all the different sections…and ride the new FROZEN Ride.
We did get to experience the ride Soarin’ Over the World. That’s one of my most favorite rides. We love the Soarin’ Over California, and this was cool to experience Soarin’ Over the WORLD.
Our final day at DisneyWorld was spent at Disney’s newly expanded DisneySprings outdoor shopping area. It was filled with so many stores you know and love, you almost need to add an additional day to your family vacation to see Disney Springs. Some of my favorite shops in addition to the World of Disney store include: Anthropology, The Lego Store, UniqLo, Alex and Ani and so many more.
How cute are these t shirts this cute couple had on?! She made them, isn’t that cool?! They made me smile big. That’s what I love about Disney, there’s always a character or a movie that you can identify with.
We can’t wait for our next visit to DisneyWorld! A big thanks to Disney and all the conference sponsors:
Go Go Squeez, Hanes, Alamo and American Tourister who spoiled us with this Chewi rolling bag! …my little furry “Chewi” next to the Chewi Bag. 😉
#DisneySSMC – Disney’s Social Media Moms Celebration is an invitation conference for Social Media Moms /Influencers. We paid for our flights and a conference fee to attend. We did receive some discounted and complimentary items from Disney Parks, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Media, and their conference sponsors. I’m not required to write about our experience and all opinions are my own.
