Tzatziki Sauce, a creamy tangy greek condiment that compliments so many dishes.
Tzatziki sauce pronounced, tuh-zee-kee, is a creamy, tangy sauce that is a staple in Greek cuisine. Made with thick greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic and lemon, it is cool and refreshing and will cool down a hot spicy bite. It’s easy to make and can be served with so many dishes. Ingredients:
- ½ cup English cucumber, finely grated
- 1 cup whole milk Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
How to make Tzatziki Sauce:
- Place the grated cucumber on a clean thin tea towel and gently squeeze out a bit of the excess water from the cucumber.
- In a medium bowl, combine the grated cucumber, yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, salt and dill.
- Store in the fridge to chill until ready to use. Serve chilled.
Different ways to serve Tzatziki Sauce:
- Serve Tzatziki Sauce as a dip with pita chips and fresh cut veggies.
- Add it to a wrap for lunch. This sauce goes well with turkey or roast beef and all kinds of veggies. Use it as a side to dip your wrap or sandwich into.

Tips and Tricks:
- When you’re ready to serve Tzatziki Sauce if there is excess liquid, use a paper towel to absorb it before serving. Making sure to squeeze out the liquid from the shredded cucumbers will help with this.
- Try salting the shredded cucumbers before squeezing them, to allow them to release more liquid.
- You can drizzle the top with a little more olive oil and sprinkle a bit more dill over the top.
Another way to drain Cucumbers:
- Peel and shred cucumbers using a box grater.
- Put cucumbers in a fine mesh colander in the sink.
- Let rest for 20 minutes in the colander.
- Press the cucumbers firmly to release any excess liquid.
